With Roblox Studio you can design 3D worlds, code client and server functionality, and develop new game mechanics. Sample Schedule

In this course, students will learn Lua coding to create advanced game features, as well as take advantage of client-server interactions to build custom game mechanics in their own multi-stage obby platformer game.

Here’s a sample of what a week in the course could look like! Please keep in mind that students will progress at varying paces; this is a general outline of the key material and overall student experience.

Monday

Students will modify game terrain to create custom mountains, valleys, and plateaus, then they’ll learn how to create an immersive environment using lighting and decor. They’ll end the day by creating the beginning stages of their obby.

Tuesday

Next, students will learn coding fundamentals using Lua to make a checkpoint system that saves player progress. They’ll also add advanced stages to their obby using constraints and motors to build moving platforms.

Wednesday

Through premium payouts and the DevEx program, students will learn how they can earn Robux from their game. They will create and code in-game game boosts for players to buy and include a donation button to start monetizing!

Thursday

Students will use client-server interactions to create an advanced game challenge that each player will experience differently based on their actions. They’ll also set up a system of hints to guide the player through the challenge.

Friday

To wrap up their game, students will learn about the concept of replayability and then implement a system for players to restart their game from the beginning.

What are the technical requirements for this online course?
