Sample Schedule

In this course, students will watch Dude Perfect’s record-setting trick shots alongside their elaborate, masterful competitions for inspiration as they explore a variety of game design elements and construct a series of engaging mini-games.

Here’s a sample of what a week in the course could look like! Please keep in mind that students will progress at varying paces; this is a general outline of the key material and overall student experience.

Students will become familiar with the Roblox Studio editor in order to build and edit 3D models. Next, they’ll make use of plugins to add features that streamline quick and advanced model setup, using the skills gained to design a custom set of basketball trick shots!

Incorporate elements of world design, such as terrain layout, atmosphere, and lighting into an arena design plan. Then, students will  then set up go-kart stations at arena entrances and learn how to include paint splashers to finalize a go-kart paintball battle mini-game.

Thinking like game designers, students will develop a blueprint design for a corn maze. Once constructed, they will combine the corn maze with the paint splashers to host a corn maze paint battle!

Brainstorm and build toy car trick shot paths that start near the game spawn point and then pass over, under, or even through the mini-games students have created so far. This way, they can showcase each mini-game to new players.

Finish strong with a final set of trick shots: this time with giant darts and targets! For an additional challenge, students can try combining a giant dart trick shot while riding along the toy car trick shot path for an extra-impressive, moving bullseye!
