Making your characters, stories, or even simple animated shorts jump off the screen is the name of the game. Record sounds, draw characters and backgrounds, and flex your creative muscles!

  • Design and animate sprites
  • Experiment and explore to build creativity and confidence

Sample Schedule

In this course, students will imagine their own worlds and stories, and bring them to life with Scratch’s design tools.Throughout the week, students will engage in instructor-led lessons, collaborative discussions, and independent project work.

Here’s a sample of what a week in the course could look like! Please keep in mind that students will progress at varying paces; this is a general outline of key material and the overall student experience.

To kick off the week, students will dive into the fundamentals of visual game design with Scratch and design a character they’ll code with motion and sounds.

Next, students will animate characters with unique poses and movement and develop a game from scratch with custom designs.

Interweaving coding with storytelling, students will develop an interactive story with branching paths and custom audio recordings.

Time to polish their projects! Students will design, code, and direct their own interactive game from start to finish.

Finally, students present their project to the class and engage in constructive feedback discussions.
