How did Dude Perfect rise to become one of the top YouTube channels in the world? There are many reasons, and you'll get to explore them in depth. But making YouTube videos is about more than just filming you and your friends. You want your final product to feel natural and fun, and that comes through editing and choosing the right moments to engage with your audience. How do you combine clips to make someone feel like they're in on the fun, doing cool trick shots, throwing giant foam darts, or riding around in go karts? In this course, you'll work with real footage from the Dude Perfect YouTube channel, editing and crafting the raw moments into something memorable.

Sample Schedule

In this course, students will learn to manipulate raw footage from the YouTube channel Dude Perfect into a fully edited video through a combination of interactive, instructor-led lessons, collaboration, and independent project work.

Here’s a sample of what a week in the course could look like! Please keep in mind that students will progress at varying paces; this is a general outline of the key material and overall student experience.

Students will discuss example footage and videos from Dude Perfect and brainstorm ideas for engaging video content. They’ll select the footage they’d like to use and dive into crafting their own videos!

Students will begin learning Adobe Premiere Pro editing techniques using the footage they selected the previous day.

Students will continue to edit and refine their videos with an emphasis on timing and high-quality production. 

Students will learn to create and apply special effects into their videos and begin their final rounds of editing. 

To cap off the week, students will share their work and provide meaningful feedback to their peers.

To run this online course with iD Tech, students will need a Mac or Windows computer (no Chromebooks, unless otherwise specified), Adobe Creative Cloud, a webcam, and a stable internet connection with access to Zoom video conferencing.
